AveoDent was built with Kali Stewart, DMD — pediatric dentist, co-founder, and the person who decides whether a clinical feature ships. Every charting workflow, note template, and odontogram interaction is shaped by what she actually needs between patients.
If a feature doesn't improve efficiency for dentists or front-office teams, it doesn't ship. Below is what's built today, what's honest about the limits, and how the clinical day actually flows.
The clinical day
What you actually do, supported.
Odontogram you can actually chart on
Click the tooth, pick the surface, mark the condition. Buccal / occlusal / lingual views, surface-specific marking, existing-vs-needs-treatment color coding. The chart, the treatment plan, and the ledger all update from the same click.
Phased treatment planning + clinical ledger
Build a phased plan from the chart, present it with patient-vs-insurance estimates, track status from planned → in progress → completed → declined. The clinical ledger is one screen instead of three.
Auto-generated clinical notes
Complete a procedure, the note drafts itself from your template. Edit, sign, lock. Amendment requests + audit-tracked review flow when you need to correct a signed note — no rewriting history.
AI patient summary at the chair
Pre-visit summary of the patient's medical history, prior treatment, and behavioral cues — generated from their chart, ready when you walk in. Vertex-backed (HIPAA BAA via Google Cloud), opt-in per patient, no PHI leaves a covered vendor.
Voice-to-text dictation
Tap the mic, dictate the note. Vertex Speech-to-Text streaming straight into the textarea, 60-second pass cap, works on new notes and edits. Built so you can chart between patients, not after work.
Perio charting that auto-advances
6-point probing with keyboard auto-advance (DB→ML→MB→ML→D→DL on numeric keypress). Bleeding-on-probe + recession + mobility. Exam comparison side-by-side. AI analysis flags pattern changes you might miss in 6-month gaps.
Sign / verify / lock / amend
Notes sign and lock per the HIPAA Security Rule. Amendments go through a review queue, never overwrite the original. Every PHI read and every write writes an audit row — service-layer enforced, not route-by-route remembered.
What we don’t do yet

A few clinical workflows we’re not built for — and we’ll tell you that on the demo call instead of selling you a contract and apologizing later.
- Voice-driven perio (Dentrix VoicePerio replacement). Strong keyboard auto-advance today; voice is year-two.
- Surescripts EPCS for controlled substances. Automated pharmacy fax covers 95% of dental prescriptions; EPCS is year-two.
- CBCT 3D viewer + sedation monitoring. OMFS is out of scope; we tell you up front.
- Full in-house aligner case management. We track referrals and basic ortho; Dolphin / Cloud 9 / tOrtho are the category winners for full-case orthos.
